Developing and Fostering a Partnership for Learning through Schoology (Lecture, 45 min)

John Hattie (2009) in his seminal work ‘Visible Learning’ sets out what works to improve student learning following 15 years research and over 800 meta-analyses. He tells us that parents have major effects on their children’s educational achievements.

In this session I will share how we at ISZL, Switzerland use Schoology to develop and foster the critical partnership for learning between school and parents. More than just sharing the grade book, we use interest groups, regular posts from classroom teachers, multi-media albums, portfolios and more to provide parents a window to, and engage them in, the learning process.

Session Objectives:
Attendees will come away from this session with an understanding:
- of how parents affect their children’s learning
- of how to use Schoology to engage parents in the learning process and to build community.
